SUN HERBAL has selected a range of the most popular Chinese 'patent' herbal formulas, based on the demands of practitioners. They are manufactured in China from 'A' grade herbs in a factory that has both Australian and China National GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certification.

Traditionally most herbal pills manufactured in China consist of powdered herbs that are compressed and held together with either water or honey, thus making the concentration ratio less than 1:1, as can be seen on their labels. While this is more appropriate for some laxatives, the majority of herbal formulas give much better clinical results in concentrated form.

Black Pearl formulas have undergone a process of temperature controlled extraction. This means that you will find Black Pearl formulas to be two to three times stronger than pills made from powdered herbs. Therefore consistent clinical results can be achieved using the recommended dosage range.

With newly developed testing methods, it is now possible to avoid contamination with aristolochic acid when using Mu Tong (Akebia), Wei Ling Xian (Clematis) & Han Fang Ji (Stephania). Black Pearl products retain these herbs in their classical formulations as they are tested in China, before manufacture, and in Australia, after manufacture, to ensure that they are absolutely free from aristolochic acid.

The indications on the labels and packaging include both the TCM pattern as well as major symptoms and biomedical indications, where appropriate. This will facilitate prescribing by helping to match the disease or presenting symptoms with the predominant TCM pattern.

For around the same price as commonly available formulas made from powdered herbs, Black Pearl offers outstanding value by providing two or three times the amount of active ingredients in each pill. According to its label another brand of Huang Lian Jie Du Wan (Coptis & Scute Formula) contains 100mg of herbs per pill. The same formula in the Black Pearl range contains 375mg of herbs per pill (=3.75 times stronger)
